Summerville, SC considers Ban on Illegal Immigrants
Summerville, SC, is considering a ban on illegal immigrants living and working in there town. Councilman Walter Bailey believes his town needs to do this because the federal government is not doing enough to prevent illegal immigration.
If this ordinance passes, it will require anyone renting a home or apartment to provide legal documentation showing they are either American citizens or in the country legally.
Although companies would have to verify the immigration status of workers, the ordinance will not apply to independent contractors or domestic workers.
