Traumatic Brain Injury in the Military

BAE Systems has announced a $17 million U.S. Army contract will allow the company to provide a system called Headborne Energy Analysis and Diagnostic System (HEADS) to the military to detect even mild traumatic brain injury (TBI). Sometimes soldiers will continue their mission after an explosion not realizing that they may have a concussion that could have long term effects. HEADS will be placed in the soldier's helmet and a red light will blink upon impact to alert the soldier that he/she may have a TBI. This technology will also help with developing better protective equipment.

Tiger Woods Divorce

News is spreading about the upcoming divorce for Tiger Woods. A British tabloid, The Sun, is reporting that there is a possible settlement on the way for Tiger Woods and his wife prior to any divorce being filed for in Orlando. The tabloid is reporting that Elin Nordegren will receive around $750,000.00 from the divorce and half of the properties. Tiger Woods had a perceptual agreement with his wife that capped her pay out after a divorce. The agreement is most likely valid, but does not cover Elin's ability to tell her side of the story. Elin has made no public comments about Tiger's infidelities. Tiger's divorce attorney and Elin's divorce lawyer will make the final agreements to keep this case out of the public eye. Elin will most likely sign a confidentiality agreement with the settlement. This will protect Tiger's future earning potential.
By all accounts Tiger has decided that he will not try to salvage his marriage and he will move forward without his wife at this point. This is not uncommon for men with this amount of financial resources. A divorce is always more difficult for one party. in this case it will be Elin. She gets a large payout, but may be embarrassed for the rest of her life because of the cheating. South Carolina Boating Injuries

The South Carolina Coast Guard along with local law enforcement agencies have increased efforts to protect people on the water with the upcoming July 4th weekend. This effort is being termed Operation Dry Water and will focus on individuals boating under the influence. This is basically a DUI on the water. This also covers the use of drugs while operating a boat. Most boats on the water during a holiday weekend have alcohol on board and several people who may have no experience operating a boat. This upcoming event is sponsored by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators. This is an important effort because there will be someone injured during the holiday weekend while boating. There is always someone who has had to much to drink and they just cannot park the boat. Law enforcement officials will most likely be conducting random checks on boats to ensure boating laws are complied with during this weekend.
Injuries from boating accidents are at time very severe because it is impossible to stop a boat once it gets going. There are no boat "brake", which is the primary reason to boat with caution. Our injury lawyers have represented families and victims of boating accidents. The case requires knowledge of the boating regulations and of any criminal law that is being violated on the water. Boaters are required to carry some insurance on there boat. The bigger the boat, usually the high amount of insurance coverage. Witnesses to what occurred prior to the accident are critical, as is any information gathered by the police or Coast Guard. Myrtle beach lawyers have experience with these accidents because of the large waterway that separates Myrtle Beach and the Atlantic Ocean. Charleston also has a very large marine with thousands of boaters on the water. Our Charleston attorneys have experience with boating accidents and can assist in handling this type of action.
